Sunday may be Valentine’s Day, but the Basingstoke Bison will be showing no heart to the visiting Sheffield Scimitars as they look to complete a home clean sweep against them.
The Herd are currently in great home form having reeled off eight straight league victories on home ice, which includes wins over three of the top four teams.
The latest side to be shot down in Hampshire was the Slough Jets last Sunday, as Bison were inspired by a 37 shot shut-out from Tom Annetts to a 3-0 victory.
So far this season the Herd have beaten the Scims 4-3 in overtime and only a fortnight ago 5-1 at the Basingstoke Arena.
In the latest success over Sheffield, the league’s leading scorer Ondrej Lauko helped himself to four goals.
However, the Herd should not under estimate their opponents who only lost 5-4 on Wednesday night to leaders Milton Keynes.
They are a hard working team who are sure to put up a good fight and looking ahead to the contest Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “I think the last time we played Sheffield was the first time I could honestly say we were the better team. At the moment we are thriving on home ice and enjoying playing in our building.
“We want to keep winning here and that is what we be in our minds when he skate out on Sunday. For sure we cannot take them lightly. We will have to come out strong from the first face-off.”
The action gets underway on Sunday at 5.30pm for what should be another great night of family entertainment at the Basingstoke Arena. Tickets are available from the box office on (01256) 355266.
Before Sunday’s game the Bison are in action on Saturday at the Peterborough Phantoms.
The Herd will be looking to avenge a 6-3 defeat at the same venue from earlier in the season, in a game which has a 7pm face-off.
