The mood in the Bison camp is excellent. The guys are really enjoying playing and winning hockey games. I am not counting how many consecutive games that we have won in Basingstoke but we are all very proud of this achievement and look forward to trying to maintain the winning streak! Even more important is the fact that the Bison are finding their form away from home. After a great display 11 days ago in Peterborough, we have gone to Manchester on Sunday and have won there for the first time.
Having a hot goalie is crucial to a team on a winning streak. Davey had the hot hand in January and now Tommy has it in February. The Phoenix hit the post in the first minute of the game which signaled to me that this could be Tommy’s night and the Bison’s night. The win in Manchester has narrowed the gap between the Phoenix and the Bison to 3 points. We are now in a very realistic position of overtaking them. It is going to be an interesting finish to the season.
Nicky Chinn and I travelled to Cardiff on Tuesday to take part in Jason Stone’s testimonial. Stoney has played for the Devils for 20 years which is an incredible feat!
These games are a lot of fun for the players as they can relax whilst taking to the ice where everyone becomes friends.
I am looking forward to the opening of Wolfies. My first taste test will be the wings. I have a feeling the chicken wings are going to be D- licious! Wolfies will not only be an excellent place to eat, but also be a fun place to be in.
The crowd should be big again this Saturday. The school zone area is full again and we anticipate another noisy Bison arena!
