Mo's Mumblings
11th of March 2010
The two major topics of conversation from last Saturday’s game could not be more extreme. Firstly, a crowd of almost 1500 people packed into the Basingstoke S-dome for the Bison vs Slough encounter. This was the biggest attendance for a Bison game in more than 10 years. It’s the hottest ticket in Hampshire!

On a negative note, the big question on everyone’s mind was “was it a goal?” “was it not a goal?” During the third period in a tight 3-2 hockey game, Adam Greener of the Jets shot the puck which hit the post and came straight out. Play continued but the goal judge put the goal light on signaling a goal. The play was stopped and a goal was given. However, after watching Bison TV super enhanced zoom and slow motion, it was evident that the puck did not cross the line. To be honest, I don’t think we needed video technology to confirm what we already knew. It is impossible for the puck to fully cross the goal line and come out in the direction that it did. It was a killer blow to our chances of winning the game.

Sam Oakford scored his first goal of the season last Wednesday against Milton Keynes. Sam the Man fired a bullet in from the point. It was great for Obi-One Sam-Oaki to score his first goal for the Bison and importantly helped us win the game.

This weekend we face the top two teams; Slough away and MK at home on Sunday.

We will need points in order to maintain our pursuit of 3rd place. Guildford, Manchester and the Bison are separated by two points in the battle for 3rd place.
