Chris Wiggins misses this weekends games as he has accumulated 10 penalty points. It is a difficult situation to assess but from a playing and coaching point of view, I want my guys to step in. Jamie Line could have been seriously injured by the MK player and it is important that teammates are willing to help protect each other.
On another note, if a team accumulates 50 penalty points then the coach will be punished and suspended for 2 games. Is this fair? Players are not robots. I cannot plug them in, give them a list of instructions and expect them to carry out each instruction to perfection.
In a game of hockey, numerous mistakes are being made. The coach can address these mistakes with the intention of bettering the player, thus benefitting the team. However, as an example, something like an accidental highsticking penalty carries penalty points. A coach cannot control a player accidentally highsticking another player, yet he (as well as the player) will be punished.
Four games to go in the League before the quarterfinal playoff stage begins. We are in a fight with Guildford and Manchester for the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions in the League. At this stage we are hoping to play great hockey, improve on certain areas and finish the season on a high!
This Saturday the Bison aim to beat Peterborough. The game will be fast paced and we will look to strike early. See you at the game, which looks to have another excellent crowd!
