13th of May 2010
Another hectic week at the Basingstoke Arena has passed by as we tick off another week before the start of the 2010/11 season.
We made our first 'new' signing of the season as Ciaran Long joined the Stampede - a signing Steve Moria's described as 'an extremely skilful hockey player and one I believe Basingstoke fans will really enjoy watching next season.' You can read the full press release here
Don't forget, you can 'Own and Loan' ALL the Bison player's jersey's for the season ahead - thanks to John & Meg Black, Jessica Harrison, Jo & Ash, Emma Phillimore, Lee & Nicki, Mike Ackland and Liz Thompson who have so far purchased jersey's.
The current Own & Loan's that are available to purchase are:
Kurt Reynolds - Home & Away
Steve Moria - Home
Ciaran Long - Away
Sam Oakford - Away
Just e-mail bison.info@planet-ice.co.uk as soon as a signing is confirmed on the Bison website - jersey's are sold on a first-come, first-served basis (£150 for the home jersey, £120 away).
Congratulations have to go out to Bavy and Bud the Bison for taking part in the 5K Run for Fun at Down Grange. Bavy was running in memory of long-time friend Paul Bradshaw, who passed away after a short battle with an agressive form of cancer. Bavy had hoped to raise £100 for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Frimley but so far, our man has raised over £600! Top effort - especially for the Batman and Robin suits that were on show. If you wish to sponsor Bavy, you can do so by visiting http://www.justgiving.com/Bavy, or there are a few collection buckets dotted around the Arena for the next week for you to drop your change into. (and for the record, Bavy (and Bailey) beat Bud by just over a minute.)
Tonight (14th) sees two Bison stars swapping sticks for spatulas as Steve Moria and Tony Redmond take part in a charity 'Ready Steady Cook' challenge at Hatch Warren Community Centre. The action gets underway at 7pm, and it will cost £3.50 to get in. All proceeds from the night will go towards the Charlie's Day Unit and also helping a competitor at the Transplant Olympics in Bath later this year. Check out more details here
All season ticket holders should have received a letter in the post this week from Steve detailing the plans for next year's season tickets. We are having a special 'Social Night' at Wolfies on Wednesday 2nd June, where you'll be able to purchase your seats for next season. Steve has also promised to announce a couple of new signings on the night so it's certainly a date for the diary.
And for all the budding Bison stars out there, remember the Bison Hockey Skills Camp that's taking place at the Basingstoke Arena from May 31st until June 4th, being led by Steve Moria. Find out more information here- but be quick as spaces are running out.
That's all for this week, there's plenty more news to come next week. Don't forget to keep checking the Bison website for all the latest news and other special features we've got coming up in the weeks ahead.
