Rounding up the Herd
28th of May 2010
The off season work continues and it's all go here at the Basingstoke Arena, signings, launches, planning...roll on September is all we can say.

There is a lot to tell you so let's begin with the two additions Steve made to his squad ahead of the 2010-2011 season.

It began on Saturday with Rick Skene making the move to the Bison. Some fans will remember that Rick iced for the Herd in 2004-05 so it's been a long overdue return for the D-man.

An even more familiar face re-signed on Thursday, which got many practicing their dance moves with 'Wig Wam Bam' Chris Wiggins signing on the dotted line. Don't forget to purchase the 'Wig Wam Bam' DVD from last season from the Bison TV Shop - only five pounds, including delivery, with a pound from each sale going to the Charlie's Day Unit. (and judging by Chris's moves, think it's safe to say he should stick to the hockey!)

Owners and Loaners have been out in force again to snatch up their favourite players jerseys. Remember, just e-mail bison.info@planet-ice.co.uk as soon as a signing is confirmed on the Bison website - jersey's are sold on a first-come, first-served basis (£150 for the home jersey, £120 away).

The countdown is on to next Wednesday, when we hold our Social Night in Wolfies. Mainly this is the chance for fans to take advantage of our 'Early Bird Specials' in renewing, or purchasing their season tickets. Steve has also promised to announce a couple of signings, along with a few other bits and bobs that'll whet your appetite so make sure your there.

If you are wishing to eat at the 'Social Night', please ring the resturant direct and pre-book a table for eating only. You don't have to book a table to attend the evening, but if you are planning to eat, we recommend that you do pre-book your table.

And if you can't make the night, then remember, 2009/10 season ticket holders have until Friday 11th June 2010 to reserve their seats for the forthcoming season as they will go on sale to the general public on Sat 12th June. After the success of last season we have a considerable amount of new fans looking to purchase a Season ticket for the forthcoming season, so don't miss out on reserving your seats for what will be another fascinating season of hockey in Basingstoke.

As we said earlier, we are beginning to make plans ahead of the new season, and we are looking for some enthuastic supporters to become a part of our 'Match-Night' team. Particulary, we are looking for a couple of 'Off-Ice Game Officials' to join our already superb team on the match night. Also, we are looking for a couple of sellers to come on board and help us sell 'The Stampede', 'Chuck-a-Duck' and 'Chuck-a-Puck'. If you’re interested, either send us an e-mail to bison.info@planet-ice.co.uk and we'll be in touch about how you can help us.

You will have seen that we also launched our Junior Fan Club for the 2010/11 season as well. If you didn't, click on the link here to download the form to join. It's open to all our fans who are aged 14 and under and costs only ten pound, which includes an exclusive goody bag, along with the chance to win one of the players 'Own-and-Loan' jersies at the end of the season.

'Follow the Herd' is well underway, with the continual launch of our corporate drive. Remember, there's a chance for you to win a 'Player Sponsorship' package if you are able to help us recruit a corporate partner - so print out the package from this link, or even simpler, how about e-mailing the link to your boss and see if it takes their fancy? You never know, one simple e-mail could have you sponsoring a player for the coming season.

Next week is Half-Term and sees the Bison Hockey Skills Camp take at the Basingstoke Arena from May 31st until June 4th, being led by Steve Moria. There's just about time to book book yourself on the camp.

You'll also see on the home page an advert to purchase the EPL Play-Off Finals DVD for just £15 including postage and packaging. Even though the Bison weren't there, it was a fantastic weekend and if your beginning to get hockey withdrawal symptoms, it could be worth a flutter. (And if it's a bit too pricey, all Bison DVD's from last season are now down to £5 on the Bison TV Shop- unfortunately, we can't change the voice on any of the DVD's for sale!).

Think that's about it for this week - don't forget to keep checking out the Bison website for all the latest news and views. Remember to follow us on Twitter (if you haven't already!) and also, for those of you on Facebook, to join the Basingstoke Bison and Bison TV groups.
