Getting To Know You - Tom Annetts
18th of August 2010
Time for another in our 'Getting To Know You' chats - and it's the man between the pipes as Tom Annetts is in the spotlight.

So what go you into hockey?
When I was at primary school I went to a birthday party at Bracknell ice rink and found I really enjoyed skating, It just escalated from there, to stick and puck and then juniors.

What do you feel is your biggest strength?
My size and angles so the puck just hits me.

Favourite ever player?
Carey Price and Tukka Rask

Best player you've ever played with?
Jamie Mclennan, NHL goalie who I backed up during the NHL lock out.

Toughest opponent?
As a goalie my toughest opponents are the other teams goalies, in particular Stephen Wall and Gregg Rockman as they are both excellent netminders.

Favourite hockey memory?
Meeting Dominik Hasek.

Most forgettable moment?
Playing against Manchester last year, coming out of my net to get the puck and falling over, then Ed Courtney shooting the puck off Nicky Chinn into the empty net.

Your best hockey stat?
Playing 2 seasons at under 19's including tournaments and playoffs, we only lost 1 game.

Best ever game?
There are a few, most from last season as I started playing more regularly. I think the 3-2 penalty shot win against MK and of course the 3-0 against Slough as I was the only goalie to shut them out last year

Funniest hockey story?
Theres too many to think of, but I'm pretty sure a few of the boys have a few involving me.

One change you would make to British hockey?
Wage caps and video replay.

What made you come to Basingstoke to play?
It's a great place to play, the fans are always so supportive, Mo knows how to get the best out of younger players and develop them....and of course all my team mates.

Why do you wear the number you do?
There are 2 reason why I wear 95, firstly I started playing hockey in 1995, and secondly Stephen Wall always said he was the goalie who wore the highest number in the EPL with 93, so I had to beat him!

Hopes for the season?
To get some silverware and to build on what we started last year.

Favourite film?
The Hangover or anything with Will Ferrell or Vince Vaughn in.

Favourite movie quote?
"How about that drive in? I guess that's why they call it sin city."

Favourite music?
Anything really.

Your current top tune?
Yolanda Be Cool - We no speak Americano and Swedish House Mafia - One

Favourite other sport?
Football

If you could be any person in the world - who would you be and why?
I'd like to be Sam Oakford, to see what its like to wake up at 3 every afternoon and just do nothing but play Fifa.

Who might be your famous look-a-like?
Jack Black

What is your job outside of hockey?
I work for Barclays Bank.

One wish in life?
To be happy, successful

Thanks Tom, possible candidate to the best answer yet on the 'could be any person in the world' front. Tomorrow, it's time for the fox in the box, Ondrej Lauko to step up to the plate. And believe me, you'll want to see this.
