Lackey Signs On
18th of August 2010
The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce the signing of a sixth defenceman in Daniel Lackey.

The home town boy has signed for the Herd on a two-way deal which allow him to continue to play for the Basingstoke Buffalo.

Last season he made a handful of appearances for the Bison and impressed in the Planet Ice Shield.

The 20-year-old has played at every level for Basingstoke and hopefully this will be the dawn of a new era for the club, as it is hoped more players will come through the junior programme.

Talking about the latest addition to his team, Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “Dan has a lot of potential and I will certainly be using him this season. I believe this move is going to benefit his game greatly.

“There are lot of good players in the junior programme at the club, so I hope this will only be the start of them taking up the challenge of becoming EPL players. It will be good for Basingstoke if we have players in our own system so that we don’t have to go out and bring them in.”

Basingstoke born Lackey is excited about the new season and said: “I have played all my hockey in Basingstoke and always wanted to play for the Bison. So for me this is the next step and I am sure I am going to learn a lot from the experienced players on the team.”
