Oops I did it again!
29th of January 2008
'Oops I did it again', well the alternative heading was 'I have a dream' but that was already taken by some other guy...

Let's get going! (the 'Oops' will come back later..)

This weekend:

Saturday:
Wow, what a game! Wow, what a nice number of visitors! OK, it was a game we did not win, and it was a game where the fans did not get the normal amount of 'Goal, Goal' and 'Where is the puck', but then again, after the game against Caps not long ago you all needed some rest in screaming. But now I believe it is time to get the vocal cords in shape again!

I will use Brad's comment on the game: 'It didn't matter what we did or how, the puck just would not go in, just one of those nights I guess' and I fully agree. Rather having one of those nights now than the coming Saturday!!!

Sunday:
A looooong trip to the Caps home with a really early start meant the guys where a little out of shape when arriving, but they did not let that simple fact make them an easy catch! Is it only me, or are we turning in to the league's nightmare in the last few minutes of every game? How many times have we turned over a game in the very last few minutes? To me it is starting to feel like it is every game! (Ok, we didn't need to turn too much against the Caps the last time they visited us..hehehe 10-1 in the last few minutes with only one more given to the Caps is pretty 'safe'). Caps game was taken to overtime and I've heard from the guys they really thought we had the better team on the ice in the OT and should have won, but Lady Luck was looking at something else and the Caps got the points only 20 secs before the end.

What really hangs in from this weekend is the gate. 1145 is impressive and this was achieved without any 'special' promotion, only a lot of hard work from many fans, handing out leaflets, writing articles, talking to friends, hanging out posters and so much more. Big thanks to all of you!

So what else is up?

Well let's start with our injury list:

Thornton:
Still no real progress with his wrist, we are waiting for some result so he can start skating again, we need him and he is starting to get really frustrated not being on the ice.

Cruikshank:
Brad took one more puck on his foot during practice, same foot same place.
Brad: Hey Doc, can you freeze my foot?
Doc: Hmm, yes I can, but it will be totally numb.
Brad: So you mean I won't feel my foot at all?
Doc: That's it, no feeling at all.
Brad: I can't do that! How would I then feel how I skate?? Sorry, no deal, I have a match to play!

Well it is a short injury list, but I would be happier if I could skip this entire section!

Next Home Game:
Well I don't think I have to tell anyone that this is a BIG weekend for us! 1st leg in the Knock Out Cup SEMI-FINAL! The first ever semi-final the Bison are in the Elite League! Big, BIG day! If you ever thought that you should bring a friend to a good game, this is the one!

Leaflets going out, posters coming up, promotions in Festival Place and a lot more!

We need everyone living within 100 miles from Basingstoke to turn up (ok, a bit optimistic here about our rink size, but you get the idea..). Make sure you pull your share of the load and get some people through the gate!

Since we are talking about upcoming games, here is the 'Oops'.

I had a call from Newcastle the other day:

Rob: 'Hi Tomas, you know the game we have in Newcastle against you guys on the 2nd March, we need to move it to the 15th Feb, because we've lost our ice time for the scheduled date and have no alternative, please can you fix it, please?
Tomas: 'Really, that is the only time you have instead -the 15th?'
Rob: 'Yes, that is really the only possible time we can get, we need to play you that day. OK?'
Tomas (Now wearing his 'nice hat' and thinking if it was himself in that situation..): 'OK, we will be there!'

Ooooooooops. Double Ooooooooops!

A call to Ryan went like this:

Tomas: Hey mate, just a quick thing. We are playing in Newcastle in the 15th Feb, OK?
Ryan: 15th?? Are you mad?
Tomas: Yes, I am the owner, what does it have do with Newcastle?
Ryan: We play Nottingham away on the 13th and home games on BOTH 16th and 17th!!
Tomas: Oooooops, Pretty please?
Ryan: OK, we will do it...

(Well as you might understand there was a few more words exchanged between that, but the end result is scary, 4 games in 5 days.)

Nothing you would call a "dream fixture" but we will do it, and we will play good games and get points!

Anything else to mention?
Tomorrow, Tuesday, is again 'Away Game Evening' in Q's bar at 19.30. Ryan has informed me that we did not get a DVD this time, and we didn't get a VHS either, we got nothing from the Caps. So unless we want Ryan to give a speech and explain the whole game himself we simply have to watch another away game. I have a really nice Manchester game on DVD, let's watch that one! In the bar you will find Braff and Curtis instead of Chubbs, and considering how Chubbs was treated in the bar I have to add the following info: In any average zoo you will find a sign 'Don't feed the animals', well in this bar we have 'Don't get the players drunk!'

The fan club will also have a table there with lots of Bison history for sale! I'm looking forward to seeing you all there!

Well that's all folks! I have a new E-news letter planned for Thursday, and I bet you wonder why!?

All the best and see you all on Saturday!

Tomas

P.S. Some of you might wonder what was the 'Oops I did it AGAIN', what did I do the last time? Try this one: 'Darling, you can't believe what I have bought today!' (said by me on 7 Nov 2007..)

PS
P.PS. Some might even wonder 'How would he ever fit -I have a dream- in to this?', well I wouldn't, I would write something else to that... simple, is it not!
