Weekend Preview - Top three battle awaits
28th of January 2011
The heat is on the Basingstoke Bison as they look to get themselves well and truly into the English Premier League title race.

On Saturday night, leaders Manchester Phoenix head to the Basingstoke Arena, while on Sunday, the Herd travel to second placed Guildford Flames looking to repeat last weekend’s superb 5-2 home victory.

When the Bison and Phoenix last locked horns in a double header weekend in November, it was the Herd who were in red hot form being victorious in both games.

Adding extra spice to Saturday’s encounter which starts at 6.30pm is the fact that next month Basingstoke and Manchester will go head-to-head in the EPL Cup semi-final.

So neither side will be keen to give their rivals that psychological advantage.

The Phoenix have the on fire forward line in the league made up of player/coach Tony Hand and the league’s top two goal scorers in Curtis Huppe and Marcus Kristoffersson.

Stopping these three players will be key to victory on Saturday night for the Basingstoke.

Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “Manchester are still smarting from our double success over them last time so I am expecting them to come out all guns blazing. We have to focus on playing a solid defensive game and taking our chances when they come.”

Tickets for what should be another great night at the Basingstoke Arena are still available from the box office on (01256) 355266, or via the Bison website.

On Sunday, there is sure to another battle at the Spectrum with action getting underway at 6pm, as the Flames are sure to be still fuming after their defeat in Bisonland last Saturday.
