The Basingstoke Bison recorded one of their best wins of the season last Sunday in Hull.
The Herd scored twice in the final two minutes to tie the game, before taking the extra point, in the penalty shoot-out thanks to captain Brad Cruikshank.
This weekend the Bison will be keen to keep their winning run going, when the Newcastle Vipers visit the Basingstoke Arena on Saturday, which is followed by a road trip to Edinburgh.
Last time the Vipers slithered into town, they were beaten in overtime thanks to a super strike from Danny Stewart secured a 5-4 Bison win.
The OT goal was Stewart's second of the contest, to add to goals from team mates Mikko Purontakanen , Cruikshank and Eric Braff, who also found a way past Ryan MacDonald. In reply, David Longstaff, Shaun Johnson, Mark Gouett and Todd Jackson scored for the Vipers.
Since that game the sides have met in Newcastle earlier this month, where the home team ran out comfortable 7-3 winners. On that night the Herd were without starting netminder Curtis Cruickshank due to illness, so British shot stopper Dan Green was between the pipes.
Once again this weekend it will be the Bison 10 looking to stampede to victory as
Steve Thornton is still expected be unable to ice because of his hand injury and defenceman Kyle Peto is not due to fly back to Britain until January 31, with return date for the team pencilled in for 10 days later.
While there is no changes for Basingstoke since these teams locked horns, there will be for Newcastle as forward Cory Morgan will pull a Vipers shirt for the start of a third spell with the club in Hampshire on Saturday, while Canadian defenceman Burt Henderson will make his British ice hockey debut in the same match.
Bison head coach Ryan Aldridge said: "We know this is going to be a tough game, but we have played well in our own building and it would be good to continue that."
Last Saturday, at home the Bison were narrowly beaten 5-4 by the Nottingham Panthers with Cruikshank scoring his first Bison hat-trick of the current campaign.
The week before they crushed the Edinburgh Capitals 10-2 with Greg Chambers setting a new club record in the bmibaby Elite League with four goals and that maintained the Herd's 100 per cent record over their Scottish rivals.
This Sunday, the Caps will be out to avenge that defeat and will be a difference proposition on their big Murrayfield ice sheet, as they look for points to close the gap on Basingstoke who occupy currently the eighth and final play-off place.
Bison boss Aldridge said: "This is an important game for us and you always want to beat the teams below you in the standings, so that is what we will hope to do."
Tickets for Saturday's home game with Newcastle which starts at 6.30pm are still available from the box office by phone until 4pm by ringing 01256 355266.
