The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of Viktor Kubenko. The Slovakian power forward was an integral part of the 2010-2011 Bison team. The 6’ 3 210 pound forward accumulated 48 goals and 36 assists totalling 84 points in the 53 League games that he played for the Bison. His achievements earned him a spot on the EPL 2nd All Star team.
This season Viktor has been playing for HK Detva near his home town in Slovakia.
Director of Hockey Steve Moria is delighted to have Kubenko return to Basingstoke. “I am extremely excited about Viktor returning. He was arguably the most influential player in the EPL last season. He is a complete player; he is a very strong skater who scores goals, plays well in the defensive end and most importantly he is a player who wants to win.”
Whilst his International transfer card and registration will take a number of days to be completed, Kubenko will fly into the country next week. Moria added “I am hoping to have the paperwork done in time for Viktor to play on Wednesday night against Swindon.”
Speaking from his home in Zvolen, Kubenko said “I am very happy to come back to Basingstoke. I enjoyed playing for Mo and the Bison fans are the best fans I have seen!”
Viktor Kubenko's home shirt will be owned and loaned by the 100 club. If you want the chance to win Kubenko's home shirt, please ask any of the Booster Club helpers on game nights about how you to join.
