Saturday Roundup - Bison away to Wildcats

A 3rd period fight back secured 2 more valuable points for the ADD Recycling Basingstoke Bison on Saturday night with a 5-3 victory on the road over the Swindon Wildcats. Bison opened the scoring at 10:04 as Chris Wiggins grabbed his first goal of the season past former Bison netminder Dean Skinns, assisted by Kurt Reynolds, and just 44 seconds later Jonas Hoog brought the Wildcats level, with Aaron Nell and Ryan Aldridge assisting. Sam Bullas put Wildcats in the lead at 16:28 from Joe Baird and Ryan Aldridge, and the Wildcats held on to the lead at the first interval.

In the 2nd session Jaroslav Cesky put the Wildcats 2 goals in front at 30:29 assisted by Nicky Watt and Michal Pinc before Marcel Petran pulled one back for the Herd at 32:20, helped by Steve Moria and Viktor Kubenko.

Tony Redmond found the net early in the 3rd period to bring the Bison level, with Steve Moria assisting at 41:16 and it was Bison player-coach Moria himself who bagged what would prove to be the game winner at 49:31 on a powerplay with assists for Joe Miller and Sam Oakford. Viktor Kubenko wrapped up the scoring with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 58:28 to seal the win for the Bison.

Stevie Whitfield won the man-of-the-match award for the home team, with netminder Stephen Wall picking up the award for the Bison with 38 saves in the game. Bison return home on Sunday evening to face the Milton Keynes Lightning with a 5:30pm face-off.
